In-Home Intervention & Your ABA Clinic
In-home applied behavior analysis therapy is a revolutionary way to identify key areas in behavioral challenges in a child’s natural environment. It provides the behavior analyst insight into how a child acts in a familiar environment, giving them the ability to address challenges as they happen.
At Amvik Solutions, we encourage any ABA practice to see the potential this type of service provides. Delivering quality treatment to your patients and offering a variety of services can ultimately lead to you growing your clinic. While you focus on providing ABA therapy, we can help your business by taking care of the client intake process, billing, payroll, and much more.
One of the ways that you can grow your agency is to deliver in-home interventions.
Inform parents of their options.
Parents may not have very much guidance or information in regards to the types of services available for a child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Even when the child is receiving care, the parents may not have a full understanding of the intervention, the goals of the treatment plan, and how it will affect their family life.
Be different. Go the extra mile to ease these parents’ woes. Not only give them options for in-center intervention, but inform them of in-home intervention as well.
In-home intervention provides convenience for families.
In-home interventions cater to the patients and their families, providing the convenience of ABA services in an environment that may be more suitable for the child. Parents can go about doing their daily duties while your board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) works with the child. In the long run, satisfied families will spread the word about the good work your practice is doing and help you to grow your clinic.
It is conducted in the child’s safe space.
This is the most beneficial aspect of in-home intervention. After the BCBA arrives, they will be able to identify key challenges that the child faces in his or her natural environment in real time.
The BCBA will conduct an interview with the parents and then meet with the child in an effort to gain a better understanding of the child’s capabilities while identifying areas for growth. Encourage your BCBAs to ask parents questions about whether or not the child has reached certain age-appropriate milestones.
Generally speaking, this process will allow parents to define their own goals for their child, and the BCBA can begin a full behavioral assessment that will act as a benchmark to their child’s progress over time.
Your BCBA should complete a full assessment of the patient’s abilities.
Your in-home BCBA should be able to conduct a full assessment of the patient using a VB-MAPP, or the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program. This program is a tool that tracks skills and assesses language, learning, and other types of social skills. Ultimately, this assessment will help the BCBA create a treatment plan.
Treatment begins!
First, the therapist working with the child should introduce themselves to the family in an effort to build rapport. This sets a strong foundation for future treatment sessions, which means more revenue for your practice.
Supervising BCBAs should return to check in on the therapist, talk to the parents about the child’s progression, and if needed, make adjustments to the treatment plan to ensure the child’s continued progress.
At Amvik Solutions, we take care of the business side of your ABA practice so you and your team can focus on implementing and delivering quality ABA services like in-home interventions for your patients.
